Wheat is not native to the North America but Heirloom Sonora White Wheat was introduced to the Pima Akimel O'Odham people in the late 1600's by a Missionary who brought this wheat to the Sonoran desert. Sonora White Wheat is a soft, spring, awnless variety with wide seed heads. The chaff can be easily seperated from the wheat by hand methods. Grow your own Heirloom Sonora White Wheat and  make beautiful white flour without all the added stuff that is bad for your health like the kind you get in the grocery store. The flour from this wheat makes fantastic tortillas.
