Heirloom Cherokee Trail of Tears Beans were said to have been carried into Oklahoma by the Cherokee people in 1839 during their forced migration from the Smoky Mountain region. Also called Cherokee Black and Cherokee Purple Pole Bean, this heirloom pole type plant produces heavy yields of tasty, 6" flatted, green pods that have a purple cast. The beans are jet black with a purple sheen.  The beans cook up meaty but tender. Heirloom Cherokee Trail of Tears green beans are great fresh, canned, or frozen. Approximately 65 Days until harvest for snap beans, 85 day until harvest for dry beans.
