San Pablo Balleza Black Tepary Bean Seeds. Heirloom San Pablo Balleza Tepary Bean is native to Mexico and Southern United States. The black tepary beans of San Pablo Balleza have a nice rich flavor thats great on there own or added to a variety of dishes. Very drought-resistant in fact, Heirloom San Pablo Balleza Tepary Bean almost prefers to be a little water neglected. If you live an area where you get excessive rainfall choose your planting time so that you are growing your Tepary Beans when you get the least amount of rain for your season. We sometimes get quite a bit of rain here in Southern Missouri but we have our gardens with Heirloom San Pablo Balleza Tepary Bean on a slight grade so that the water runs off well.  Don't over water Tepary Bean plants, they require very little care.  Plants can be expected to grow 2 1/2 - 4 feet long with a growth habit of bush / runner, similar to the Pinto Bean.  The growth habit of tepary beans is such that the they vine onto themselves creating a mass of green. The thin vines are somewhat woody and seem to keep themselves off the ground.  San Pablo Balleza Black Tepary has small light purple blooms and pods similar to pea pods in shape, but flat and thin shelled.  (Phaseolus acutifolius)  San Pablo Balleza Tepary Bean are approximately 80 days until harvest for dry beans.  Harvest as dry beans when the pod is dry and the bean can not easily be dented with your fingernail.  It's ability to keep for very long periods of time made Tepary Beans a staple for many Native American tribes.  Packet contains approximately 50 Heirloom San Pablo Balleza Tepary Bean seeds grown naturally with love and care.
